Fawcett's Toy Museum displays many original paintings and drawings that were used for the popular Lone Ranger comic books and newspaper comic strips. Above are shown two paintings by Ernest Nordli, the best of the Dell Comic book cover artists. Tonto #3, 1952 and Lone Ranger #41, 1951.

Left are three Green Hornet paintings: Britt Ried, Green Hornet and publisher of the Daily Sentinel and 1939 WXYZ Radio paintings of Green Hornet & his secretary, Lenore "Casey" Case, by H.J. Ward.

Right is Tonto #20, 1955 Dell Comic cover art by Don Spaulding.

Below are two magnificent paintings by Ernest Nordli, the best of the Dell Comic book cover artists. They were the cover art for Dell comic books, Tonto #3, 1952 and Lone Ranger #41, 1951.

Artist Don Spaulding painted many covers for Dell Comics. Left is Tonto #19 in 1955 and right, Lone Ranger #86 in 1955 Dell.

Don Spaulding, Dell Comics cover artist, holds his original cover painting for Lone Ranger Comics #62, 1953. Mr. Spaulding has had a long and memorable career as a famous painter of Western images.

 

 

NEW ADDITIONS TO THE MUSEUM: Right is the Green Hornet WXYZ painting. Left is an original Dell comic book cover art of Gene Autry’s horse, Champion. The cover was painted by the world famous equine artist, Sam Savitt in 1957.
